Great tips for access control using the DAC Model

If you're sharing documents or other files at home or in the workforce, individuals can take the proper security approaches to protect their data using the DAC model.

DAC or Discretionary Access control is one of the access models that allows owners to set privileges of their locally owned resource. The owner creates the resource and then assigns the privileges such as approving access to read and/ or write and denying, or transferring ownership.

The benefits of DAC

  • Gives resource owners the ability to protect sensitive data

  • Fast and simple

  • Flexible

  • Trackable

Technologies like Linux, Windows, Mac and many more offer this form of access control.

Using DAC access control gives resource owners another level of security to business professionals in the workforce or everyday individuals.
